Introduction to Wire Wrapping: Bead Dangles

Creating wire-wrapped dangles is one of the hallmarks of wire jewelry, and exemplifies an easy element used to embellish ear wires, chains, pendants and earrings. In the instruction provided here, the focus is on tear drop or briolette beads, top-drilled, but the same techniques can be applied to round, center-hole beads, for creating chain links and even head pins.

What you will need:

• 10 cm Piece 22 Gauge Wire
• Round Nose Pliers (Or 2-4mm Dowel)
• Needle Nose Pliers

Though you may use other gauges, I recommend 22 gauge to start. It is neither too large to manipulate nor too small to tangle, and generally fits most bead holes easily, without the need for reamers.
